Bicycling in Northern Virginia on the
Washington and Old Dominion Regional Park,
"The W & OD Trail"
This is a 45-mile asphalt trail with endpoints at
Arlington and Purcellville. Our favorite starting
point is Leesburg. Leesburg to Purcellville goes
through beautiful farm land and horse farms with
mountain views in the distance.
Leesburg toward
Arlington allows you to stop at the beautiful
Reston shopping area that features an outstanding
outdoor fountain, sidewalk cafes and up scale shopping.
Although there are hills, they are not tough enough
that kids can't enjoy this trail too. In fact, we
rode the 32-mile round trip from Leesburg to Reston
with 7 and 9 year-olds.
