Biking Near Arlington, Vermont
Vermont has some little-traveled dirt roads that
people like us who do not like to complete with
the traffic can enjoy. One of them is River Road
that runs out of Arlington. The home where Norman
Rockwell once lived and worked is on this road.
You may recognize the bridge below as the
one pictured in Rockwell's famous "Swimming Hole."
A Rockwell museum in the village of Arlington is well
worth a visit.
Just west of Arlington are the Green Mountains, and
there you will find miles of sparsely traveled mountain
roads. These roads are open in
summer only. If you are game for the hard peddling,
you will enjoy the mountain streams and remote
wooded views.
