Riding North Idaho's Centennial Trail
This 22-mile asphalt trail begins at Lake Coeur d'Alene
and runs west through the city
of Coeur d'Alene to
Post Falls, Idaho's River City, then along the Spokane
River across the Washington State line into the city
of Spokane. The trail name in Washington State is the
Spokane River Centennial Trail.
We enjoyed our day on the trail. From Coeur d'Alene
to the state line, it is quite urbane.
If this is your first time in the area, be warned that
the trail is not completed through the Pleasant View
area. We had trouble finding our way there. Just
remember to stay south of I-90. You ride several blocks
on streets until the off-road trail picks up again.
All but about three blocks have sidewalks, which helps
when you are like us and do not like riding with the
traffic.
Urban riding is not too bad, though. It's sure nice
to pass a Dairy Queen after riding several miles in hot
weather!
For official information about this trail, please see the
Idaho State Parks and Recreation website.
